Psycle - Victoria
Gym Concepts were delighted to be awarded our first fit out project for Psycle at their prestigious new premises in the heart of Victoria.
Our selection for the project followed lengthy consultation, and competitive tender process, where Gym Concepts were able to demonstrate our ability to provide innovative design solutions which, in conjunction with the client’s architect, resulted in a fabulous new facility.
The Challenge
The new site occupies the ground floor of an old Victorian ice factory which offered significant challenges for a 21st century health club fit out. Early acoustic tests indicated that significant acoustic work would be necessary to ensure that the spin and barre studios could operate without disturbance to the immediate neighbours and floors above. The most significant challenge therefore was to provide suitable acoustic closure to these areas whilst maintaining wherever possible the original design features and character of the Victorian building.
The Solution
Working closely with the architect and acousticians, Gym Concepts created a skeletal steel frame internal to the building before providing acoustic closure to the studio zones. This “box in box” acoustic system has enabled the client to operate within the new studios without compromising operational requirements. In addition to the studio areas, we also formed new male and female bathrooms including showers, toilets and changing facilities to meet the client’s 5-star high end feel and aesthetic. The works were completed against a challenging timescale, on time and in budget.
