Anytime Fitness - Locks Heath
This project involved the full refurbishment of a gym located within a busy retail park. The works were designed to modernise the space, align it with the client’s updated brand identity, and improve the overall layout and functionality. Our scope covered a wide range of trades, including decorative finishes, alterations to existing layouts, flooring, ceilings, and coordination with other contractors working on site.
The Challenge
The project required careful planning to deliver a significant transformation. Certain elements, such as the free weights rubber flooring, needed to be retained due to their good condition, requiring thoughtful integration with the new finishes. Existing banditry features, including stone retail and logo walls, had to be removed without impacting surrounding structures. Reducing the size of the office to increase gym floor space introduced structural and logistical challenges, while the retail park location meant close coordination was necessary with third-party contractors responsible for signage, data, security, and fire alarm installations. Additional complexity was created by the need to upgrade different ceiling systems across the building, particularly within the bathroom areas.
The Solution
To meet the new design specifications, the existing white suspended ceilings were sprayed to a grey finish, providing a economical solution without full replacement. The gym was fully repainted in the new brand colours, and new feature elements were installed, including oak and black wood wall panelling, coloured acoustic baffles, and a rope wall. New flooring was installed throughout the gym, with the retained free weights flooring seamlessly integrated into the finished layout. In the bathrooms, suspended ceilings were replaced with new MF ceilings that were taped, jointed, and decorated to a high standard. Throughout the project, we worked closely with all third-party contractors to ensure smooth coordination, minimise disruption, and deliver the project on time and to specification.
